This family had decided to relocate to London for a year, with periods of travel and exploration. The youngest children, one of whom is dyslexic, were taken out of school during the period and home-schooled by one of our Tutors.
The Tutor needed to work in concert with the children's schools to ensure that they would reintegrate smoothly upon their return. The one-on-one help with the dyslexic boy improved his reading, writing and self-confidence immeasurably.

The eldest girl had failed to gain the grades she needed in her AS levels and was therefore at risk of not achieving the overall grades she needed for her first choice Univsersity. Her brother was preparing for GCSEs at the same time, and the younger girl had some mild dyslexia that merited occasional support.
By far the greatest emphasis of the Tutor's work was with the eldest girl, who was to be homeschooled instead of attending a private sixth form colleage in London. By the end of the first term, the courses taken so far had been reviewed and the girl scored 3 As in her modules. At the end of the year the girl's final grades were AAB and her was accepted to her first choice University. The younger brother and the sister also thrived with the Tutor's support.

Working with the tutor exposed the hidden learning deficits and largely resolved them. The boy was accepted to an excellent school in his home city of New York and is thriving.

This was a complex position that began when the eldest boy was 10 and had a complex learning difference that affected his cognitive reasoning. Although the initial role was to help the older boy, the role evolved into supporting all the children.
An experienced educator, someone familiar with educational theory and willing to encourage non-traditional pathways was needed. The boy was able to catch up with his peers and his sisters are now thriving too.

Problems: | After School, Unhappy at School |

Unhappy with the falling standards in their preferred school, the Client sought a Tutor to help with homework after school and with developing activities to enhance the girls' learning outside the classroom.
The children did well with their Tutor. Eventually the school took heed of the steps that the parents had taken and addressed their concerns by making some changes that negated the need to retain the Tutoring service.
