Tutors International today announced that they are accepting applications for further tutoring placements in the USA, and that British private tutors are highly sought after by US families as they are often well-travelled with more exposure to other cultures and languages.

Tutors International, the leading provider of full-time private tutoring with families around the globe, today announced that they are accepting applications for further tutoring placements in the USA.

“For US and UK students to compete in the global knowledge market, they need to feel confident in their abilities and their place in the world. Studying abroad can help them to achieve that and equip them for international business. British tutors are often required because of their experience with UK education system, which can facilitate a pupil’s application to a UK university, or by studying the UK and US curriculum together, widens their opportunities.”

His comments coincide with a recent survey conducted by the British Council and reported by the BBC, which found that “fear of not fitting into other cultures was the greatest non-academic barrier to UK students studying overseas, with about a third (34%) saying this put them off.”

Adam Caller, a member of the International Education Consultants Association (IECA) and founder of Tutors International, said, “British private tutors are in very high demand by American families. The confidence, worldliness, and grounded nature of many top flight British tutors is important to US parents who want their children to understand more of the world than most Americans see.”

“We have more job opportunities than ever for outstanding tutors or teachers looking for a career change. There are currently five US tutoring positions advertised on our tutors website, one with a salary equivalent to £96,000 per annum.”

International travel is often a common feature of such tutoring placements, accompanying the family on holidays or extended trips, providing learning opportunities in other countries, in different languages, and as part of other cultures.

Mr Caller noted in response to the research by the British Council that “many Americans only travel within the US – and while it is a very varied and beautiful place, their exposure to other languages, culture and people is very limited. We find the same thing in the north of the UK, where international travel is much less common than for families in the south. It’s not surprising that students are fearful of studying abroad, when even the next county or state is unfamiliar territory to them.”

Private tutors, he continued, are often used as a bridge between students and the wider world. Whether they are nervous, introverted individuals, or simply need some direction to fulfil their potential, families often recognise the benefits that a well-travelled, experienced tutor can bring in presenting new opportunities and drawing out new ambitions in students. British tutors especially tend to have visited many different countries and experienced more of life than their American counterparts, and so are highly prized.
