Private tutor salary guidelines

We need to match the salaries paid to qualified and experienced teachers in good schools. The figures are negotiable, but we do not believe in underpricing the services of highly-qualified teaching professionals.

UK Government guidelines recommend a salary of £38,000 to £54,000 for advanced skills teachers in London, with 5+ years experience. A senior teacher with leadership experience, eg. a deputy head, can earn up to £94,000 pa. (You can see complete tables of these figures at the Dept of Education website)

Our starting point is to determine what needs to be paid in order to attract the right calibre of applicant for a particular post. We then calculate the fee to the client. We pay 75% to the tutor; the other 25% is our commission. (For example, fees to the client of £64,000 per annum, will mean a salary to the tutor of £48,000 pa.)

Our fee is amortised over the entire contract - this incentivises us to get the best match and ensure the placement continues to work well throughout the full period.
